This Snow blower has every new feature that you can possibly buy, and even comes with the same "Hydrostatic Drive" that is on every Craftman Lawn Tractor. It's called "Automatic Drive" in the Craftman Snow Blower and it is the best drive system you can have in a Snow Blower today.
The " Automatic Drive " is very simple to use. You push the single Red Knob Drive Lever forward or backwards and the farther you push it the faster you go. You can go from Forward to Reverse without slowing down or stopping the machine. There is nothing more simpler in a drive system than that.
The Power Steering is a dream and there is "Zero" work on your part, to turn the Snow Blower a little bit or a full 360 degrees. Here is how it works. You simply pull a lever that is under each handle and what ever lever you pull it then instantly turns the unit in that direction until you release the lever. It actually turns on it's own axis, that is how sharp it will turn. If you pull both the Power Steering Levers at the same time, it disengages the drive system, and you can push or pull the unit with ease.
THe Heated Handle Grips are nice and warm and will be greatly enjoyed on cold days.
Everything about this Snow Blower is quality, and the 305cc OHV Motor is a 10Hp Platinum Snow Series Briggs and Stratton engine with a powerful 14.5 Torque ratio. It will throw snow and claw up hills with ease. There is a very visual gas gauge on the gas cap.
The light is a Halogen Bulb light and it lights up my yard pretty good. The chute is controlled by two levers with Black Knobs. The one in the centre turns the chute left and right and the lever on the left side makes the chute head go up and down. The chute comes non lubricated and once you WD-40 the chute base and all other chute related parts, the chute and the two levers move like silk.
The "Large Snow Tires" are very impressive on this model, and it has new polymer or nylon skids that will not mark your driveway or garage floor.
This Snow Blower is Quality Plus and I doubt if it will ever go on sale. Out of all the Snow Blowers at Sears you will not go wrong if you buy this one, and will enjoy many years of total enjoyment from this purchase.
Bought this in October. Used it 5 times and 3 feet of snow later no major issues to speak of. Really like the Automatic transmission (will see how long the friction drive lasts, check Husky site for this model), it really is seemless and easy to use. Starts nice and doesn't bogg down with wet snow. Also the handles are at a good height for tall folks like myself. This unit is never on sale so why wait!
Pros: Good quality, Lightweight, two triggers to disengage drive wheel
Liked the Hyrostatic transmission as I can shift on the fly to any speed including reverse. Unit tackled light to hard packed snow conditions, scraping down to the concrete (adjustable). Assembly was a breeze. Worth the money plus I liked that I would not see a sale price the next day.
This is HYDROSTATIC Drive not friction drive. They work better because you can change speed as you're moving. Lots of power and you can run it one handed. Also, it costs less than a Husky but is the same quality.
